Light the Darkness 2019, a benefit for the National Alliance of Mental Illness Chicago, has announced that one of this year's honorees is Quinn Rallins '08, Project Director of the Illinois Justice Project. His work advances policies and practices that create a more equitable justice system, reduce crime, violence and prison recidivism. Light the Darkness 2019 will be held on Thursday, April 25th in Chicago.

Rallins is the former co-chair of the Mental Health Opportunities for Youth Diversion Task Force, working closely on reducing the population of youth with mental health conditions in Illinois' jails and prisons.

From 2016 to 2018, Rallins was a Community Justice Law Fellow at the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law, where his leadership and advocacy centered around bail reform and protecting Medicaid provisions in the Affordable Care Act. He previously worked as a community organizer throughout the United States on issues such as mass incarceration, health care, housing, and education reform.

Rallins holds a bachelor's degree from Morehouse College, masters' in policy from Oxford University, and law degree from Northeastern University School of Law.

Rallins has been recognized as a Harvard Galbraith Inequality Scholar, Institute for International Public Policy Fellow, and Economic and Political Studies Scholar and Cambridge University, among other awards. He serves on numerous boards including the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, Common Cause Illinois, Chicago Freedom School, Redeploy Illinois, and the Coca Cola Scholars Foundation.
